City Transportation
Ground transport
Minsk has a developed public network system including buses, trolley buses, trams, and subway (metro). The daily service runs from 5-30 am till 1-00 am. Tickets for ground transport are available in newsstands on the streets, in the shops as well as from drivers. Tickets for ground transports should be punched immediately upon entering a vehicle. Ticket is valid for a single ride in the vehicle where punched only. When using ground transport, please, take into account that vehicles are often overcrowded. The present fares are as follows:

Metro
Being not so famous as Moscow metro, Minsk underground is far cleaner and more comfortable. Now it has got two lines with 19 stations connecting downtown to the eastern, the western, and the south-eastern (industrial districts) areas of the city. Trains run every three minutes during rush hours, every five minutes off-peaks, and every 7-12 minutes late in the evening. The last train leaves the center at 1-00 a.m. In order to get to Metro you should buy a token or a magnetic pass which are sold from ticket booths inside the underground stations.
Taxi
Taxis can be found waiting in front of hotels, at the airports, railway station and bus stations as well as cruising on the streets. There are taxis of three taxi companies as well as a lot of private taxis in the city. According to the decision adopted by the city authorities each taxi should be equipped with a meter. The government fixes the sole tariff that is currently equal to 500 rubles (€0.25) per kilometer. However taxi companies surcharge for call, for boarding and sometimes for bringing up the car. In total any ride from downtown to a remote district does not usually exceed 20000 rubles, i.e. approximately €8 while a ride across the city from a far district to the other edge does not exceed 30000 rubles (about €13). More often than not credit cards are not accepted in taxis. Below some taxi companies' telephone numbers are presented:
Also, please, remember that some taxi companies refuse to send a taxi to a specific point on the street (you should state your residence address, office address, or a room at hotel as well as your phone number).
